Hair

Why
do some people have grey hair?
Some
people's hair stops making
melanin as they grow older. Fair-haired
people tend to go white, while dark haired people usually go grey.
Greyness is lack of melanin plus tiny air bubbles in the hair.

Is that why my hair is
white?
Yes, Santa. It's because you have no melanin and because you
have tiny air bubbles in your hair! |

How
strong is hair?
Stronger
than you'd believe! One hair can hold a 3-ounce (84 gm.) weight. Weave 1,
000 hairs together and they can lift you and three friends. An even
heavier rope of 10,000 hairs can pick up a car!
Why Don't
Hair Cuts Hurt?
by
Dawn
Cutting
dead cells don't hurt. Only one part of your hair is alive. It is the part
you can't see. The live part grows in your hair follicles under your
scalp. As live hair pushes up above the scalp, it dies. That's why hair
cuts don't hurt. The scissors are only cutting threads of dead skin cells!
The longest hair on record belonged to Mata Jamdamba of India. Her hair
measured 13 feet, 10 1/2 inches (or 417 cm.). What a lot of hair!
